Hello Region 138!  Like a blink of the eye we’ve made it to the end of February already and there have been some hints of spring in the air.  Thanks to all of you that have registered early for the Spring 2021 season.  Registration has been strong and we hope you will continue to spread the word as spring inches closer.  I wanted to address a few questions and provide a preview of some things were hoping to kickoff for the upcoming season.  First, I know the waiting list only registration has been different than in the past and caused some confusion.  The divisions are not full yet, but we anticipate filling up.  The waiting list was implemented to allow us to apply credits for those that registered last spring.  We will begin activating registrants in early March to make sure existing credits get applied properly.  Frankly, I’m not looking forward to it (😊), but we want to make sure your money is accounted for correctly.  If you have Spring 2020 credits and have not registered yet, I encourage you to do so soon.  Once we activate all registrations, the system will begin charging fees up front.  We don’t want you to have to pay twice if you already have credits. 

Some exciting things:  First, our web site address is now much easier.   You can simply go to ayso138.org to reach the site.  Second, we are working out a plan to start a youth referee program this season.  Youth (age 12 and up) that become certified can receive non-cash rewards for each match they referee.  Even better, high school seniors involved in the program become eligible to apply for our new AYSO Region 138 College Scholarship.  More details will be announced in early March.

Finally, AYSO is a volunteer driven program.  We are always looking for individuals that want to help get kids on the field.  So, please fill out that volunteer form when you register your kids.  We’ll find a role that fits you.  The only payment we can offer is the smile from a player that just kicked his or her first goal.  BUT IT’s THE BEST PAYMENT EVER!!
